The Istanbul Chamber of Industry (ISO) announced the results of the "ISO Turkey's Second Top 500 Industrial Enterprises - 2018" survey, based on 2018 data of industrial organizations, on 11.07.2019. Our company ranked 473rd in terms of sales from production and 73rd in terms of added value created and succeeded in entering the list of the second 500 Largest Industrial Enterprises.

28% increase in production-based sales

According to the results of the survey, which was completed after the ISO 500 announced last May, ISO Second 500 companies displayed a high performance in net sales from production in 2018, following 2017. In 2018, they increased their net sales from production from 107.6 billion TL to 137.5 billion TL with a very strong increase of 27.8%. This increase was also realized at a very high rate of 30.9% in 2017.Looking at the ranking of the ISO Second 500 this year, the top three places are as follows: In 2018, Bilkont Foreign Trade and Textile ranked first in terms of net sales from production with 413.7 million TL. ORMA Forest Products ranked second with 412.4 million TL, followed by Erişler Feed with 411.6 million TL. In 2017, companies with net sales from production between 309.4 million TL and 145.2 million TL could enter the ISO Second 500, but in 2018, this band was between 413.7 million TL and 177.8 million TL.

97 new companies entered the list

Looking at this year's list of the ISO Second 500 companies, 97 new organizations entered the ranking. 62 companies from the mentioned organization succeeded in entering the ranking from outside last year's ISO 1000 Large Industrial Enterprises ranking. KAT Mechatronic Ürünleri A.Ş. is among these companies (with a gross value added of 119,513,375 TL) 

One of the most important developments in the ISO Second 500 is the upward trend in the number of exporting companies. The fact that KAT Mechatronic Ürünleri A.Ş. exports 95% of its production constitutes an important share of this success. While the number of exporting companies was 407 in 1997, the first year of the study, this number increased to 451 in 2018. This shows that exporting is an important criterion for being included in the ISO Second 500, just as it is in the ISO 500.

Some of the key indicators of the 2018 Turkey's Second Top 500 Industrial Enterprises survey are summarized as follows:

An analysis of the ISO Second 500's production-based sales performance over the years reveals that the weak growth seen in the 2012-2016 period was replaced by real growth in 2017. Although the trend of real growth in production-based sales continued in 2018, the rate of increase remained below the previous year. Real growth in production-based sales, which was 17% in 2017, declined to 6.2% in 2018.

In 2018, the operating profit ratio of the ISO Second 500 was realized as 12.1%. Thus, there was a 1.8% point improvement in operating profitability compared to 10.3% in 2017. The total size of operating profit increased by 51.7%, from TL 12.5 billion in 2017 to TL 19 billion in 2018.

It was noteworthy that the ISO Second 500's earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) jumped in 2018, following the jump in 2017. From TL 16.6 billion in 2017, EBITDA increased by 39.8% to TL 23.2 billion in 2018. The real increase in earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) was high at 16.%. Profit and loss before tax increased by 21.5% from TL 7.4 billion in 2017 to nearly TL 9 billion in 2018. In the same year, the real increase in total profit and loss before tax was 1%.
